The Palm was Reg's very first design from the mid-1990s. Still prized today, its low center of gravity allows for precise and consistent tamping pressure.
Zebrawood is a West African hardwood renowned for its striking grain patterns and rich, warm colors. Zebrawood offers exceptional durability and natural resistance to moisture, ensuring that your tamper will stand the test of time.
All our wood handles are artisan-crafted by Reg himself, and finished by hand using Reg's proprietary mixture of food-safe natural finishes. They develop a soft, satin patina with use.
Notes:
This listing is for a handle only. Handles and bases must be specified individually to create your complete tamper. We'll assemble it for you before shipping.
Sustainability:
This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices, but is on the IUCN Red List. It is listed as vulnerable due to a population reduction of over 20% in the past three generations, caused by a decline in its natural range.
Because of its vulnerable status, we will not be making any more Zebrawood tampers until sustainable reforestation measures have ensured this beautiful species's chances for long-term survival. These Zebrawood handles are new old stock, crafted by Reg in the 2000s or 2010s. Once they're gone, they're gone.
